Cancer Research UKA huge 'thumbs-up' to our Sunday Nighters section for raising a whopping £536.85 (£688.27 with Gift Aid) in aid of Cancer Reserach UK during their Christmas get-together. The money they raised on the day has been donated directly to Katherine Bown's 'Million Pounds Challenge' - a determined quest to raise £1million for the very worthy charity whilst also helping to raise awareness.

Katherine, who lives in Cardiff, was disgnosed with breast cancer in early 2009 and has since successfully undergone treatment and now devotes a lot of time to her Million Pounds Challenge campaign. In response to the Sunday Nighters' very generous donation, Katherine said:

"This is fantastic, thank you so so much!

Please can you pass this message of thanks on. A big thank you to everyone at Glynneath Golf Club who helped raise over £500 towards my challenge of raising £1million pounds for Cancer Research UK.

I'm really touched that you made the effort to hold a fundraising event and I hope the money raised will help find a cure for this frightening disease.

Thank you again to every single person who donated."
