Further to recent emails advising our members of the upcoming greens' maintenance work, we can now confirm that the hollow-tining planned for a select number of greens on 19th September was unable to take place until later that week due to the very wet weather experienced. The solid spiking and top-dressing phase started today and will be completed tomorrow (Friday 30th September). The current unusually warm weather has provided perfect conditions to undertake this aspect of work so it was decided to grab the window of opportunity whilst it exists. This work will more than likely cause some disruption to the flow of play on Friday 30th September and members wishing to use the course are requested to give priority to any work in progress if they encounter it during their round. It is envisaged that the putting surfaces, though not particularly attractive looking to begin with, will take 1-2 weeks for noticable improvement to be seen. The work is being carried out with the longer term benefits in mind so the understanding and co-operation of all our members and visitors will be much appreciated. This has also had a knock-on effect for our competition fixtures. Saturday 1st October will host a 'non-trophy' Better Ball Pairs Medal with a 'non-trophy' Singles Stableford scheduled for Saturday 8th October. A Company Day is taking place on Friday 14th October with the format being Texas Scramble and tee-off being a 12pm shotgun start. The JEJ Slate will now be held on Saturday 15th October and our Junior Open on Sunday 16th (tee booked (10:45am-1:30pm). Finally, the recently cancelled Stella Crawley Trophy will bring the competition season to a conclusion on Saturday 22nd October. All main competition winners will receive a special invitation to Presentation Night on Saturday 19th November. It can also be confirmed that Junior Presentation night will be held on Saturday 26th November - more details will be made available shortly. |
