A good turnout attended Roger Whitefoot's Captain's Day on Saturday 30th June. 104 enthusiatic golfers took part in the occasion, with the starters off at 7:30am. All golfers were treated to the customary post-round meal, courtesy of the Captain and the good crowd that stayed behind for the presentation was a fair indication of Roger's popularity as Club Captain. Winner of the Captain's Prize was Junior member Ryan Nedza with an impressive 43 points, 3 ahead of runner-up Simon Evans. Dalton Brown, a fellow Junior member capped off a good day for the Juniors by finishing third on countback with 39 points.. Dean Pike, allegedly known as 'Boom-Boom', took the Longest Drive on the 13th, amid suggestions that it was actually his tee shot on no. 18. The Nearest the Pin prizes were won by Calum Thomas, Steve Edwards, Phil Davies, and Derek George. Eleven 2s were scored, each claiming a share of the pot as credit in the Pro Shop. Roger extends his thanks to everyone who turned up to play and thereby contribute massively towards making it such a successful day. Also, thanks to Chris & Irene and their catering team for a superb service as always - and to Shane for organising and scoring. Also to Kevin, Darryl and Martyn on the greens staff for their hard work in getting the course looking and playing so good on the day - the course has consistently been presented extremely well not just for Captain's Day but throughout the season. Finally, a special mention to the trophy supplier Identilase - a great service and quality slate engraved products as always!
